10th Lokshahi Din Conducted at MHADA: Grievances Reviewed and Resolved

The 10th Lokshahi Din was held today at the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) headquarters in Bandra (East), under the leadership of Mr. Sanjeev Jaiswal, IAS, Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of MHADA. During the proceedings, ten public complaints were heard, and specific instructions were issued to the relevant departments to ensure timely and fair resolutions. Lokshahi Din continues to be an essential platform for citizens to directly voice their concerns to senior officials.

In one of the cases, Mr. Mohammad Khan, an allottee under the 20% Inclusive Housing Scheme of the Konkan Board, requested waiver of ₹1.70 lakh interest levied due to delayed payments—attributed to the developer. After considering the facts, Mr. Jaiswal directed the officials to take up the matter with the concerned developer and ensure the interest amount is waived.

Another matter involved Mr. Gilbert Xavier, who had sought the transfer of a tenement located in PMGP Colony, Andheri East, which had been gifted to him by his brother. Despite having paid the stamp duty, the transfer was still pending. Mr. Jaiswal instructed that the transfer process be completed promptly after collecting the standard applicable charges.

Mr. Farooq Shaikh raised concerns over the use of forged documents and misleading affidavits in a slum redevelopment scheme under Navbharat Cooperative Society, located at Juhu Lane, Andheri. In response, Mr. Jaiswal ordered that a formal hearing be conducted within one month and that a conclusive decision be made by April 30.

In another appeal, Mr. Vitthaldas Khedekar, a mill worker, had been marked ineligible due to deficiencies in his online application. He sought a chance to submit the required documents in physical form. Mr. Jaiswal instructed the Labour Department to review the updated submission and decide on his eligibility within 15 days.

Mr. Anand Khilare, a beneficiary of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) from the Pune Board, reported being asked to make an extra payment, despite already paying the full amount. After verifying the claim, Mr. Jaiswal instructed that only dues owed to government departments be retained and that any excess be appropriately adjusted.

During the session, officials reviewed four cases each from the Mumbai and Konkan Boards, along with one grievance each from the Mumbai Repairs and Reconstruction Board and the Pune Board.

MHADA reaffirmed its dedication to citizen service and administrative transparency by taking prompt action on the issues presented during the Lokshahi Din.
