Citizen grievances to be discussed and addressed under the chairmanship of MHADA Vice President and CEO Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal, IAS

Mumbai, June 05, 2026: The 18th Democracy Day of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), earlier scheduled for Monday, June 08, 2026, has been postponed by one day due to unavoidable reasons. The programme will now be held on Tuesday, June 09, 2026, from 12 noon onwards at the fourth-floor auditorium of MHADA Headquarters, Bandra East, under the chairmanship of MHADA Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal, IAS.

MHADA has appealed to citizens to actively participate in the Democracy Day initiative and use the platform for the timely redressal of their grievances. Since January 2024, MHADA Democracy Day has been organised every second Monday of the month at the MHADA Headquarters auditorium in Bandra East. So far, 17 such programmes have been successfully conducted under the leadership of Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal.

During Democracy Day, complaints and applications received from citizens are discussed openly and directly in the presence of the concerned officials. This has helped resolve several long-pending matters and has enabled citizens to receive simpler, faster and more transparent justice. The initiative has strengthened public confidence in MHADA’s citizen-centric, accountable and transparent administrative approach.

Before every Democracy Day session, Shri Jaiswal also reviews the action taken by officials on matters raised during previous sessions. This regular follow-up has made Democracy Day an important bridge of trust between citizens and the administration.

MHADA has also informed citizens that applications for Democracy Day must be submitted in the prescribed format. Applicants are required to submit two copies of their application at least 15 days before the programme. The application format is available on MHADA’s official website under the “For Citizens” section, under the heading “Democracy Day”.

Complaints or requests submitted by applicants must be personal in nature. Matters pending before courts, revenue or appeal-related cases, service and establishment-related issues, applications not submitted in the prescribed format, applications without necessary supporting documents, cases where a final reply has already been given or is pending, repeated applications on the same subject, and complaints that are not personal in nature will not be accepted for Democracy Day.

Applications that cannot be accepted for Democracy Day will be forwarded to the concerned department within eight days for necessary action. A copy of the same will also be provided to the applicant.
