MHADA’s Journey Towards Citizen-Centric Digital Governance

Mumbai, 5 March, 2026:

To enhance citizen services and promote digital governance, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) today launched the mobile application ‘DigiMHADA’. The application was inaugurated by MHADA Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal (IAS).

The formal launch took place at an event held at MHADA Headquarters in Bandra (East). The initiative marks an important step toward making various MHADA services available to citizens through a single, simple, and integrated digital platform. Present on the occasion were MHADA Chief Engineer-1 Shri Dhirajkumar Pandirkar, Chief Engineer-2 Shri Mahesh Jeswani, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Shri Anil Wankhede, Chief Information and Communication Technology Officer Smt. Savita Bodke, Chief Accounts Officer of the Mumbai Board Shri Motes Rodrigues, Head of Project Planning Cell Smt. Neelima Dhaygude, Chief Public Relations Officer Smt. Vaishali Gadpale, and other officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal emphasized the growing importance of digital transformation in public administration and reiterated the government’s commitment to citizen-centric governance. Through the application, citizens can also file Right to Information (RTI) applications online. This facility will help ensure transparent, simple, and time-bound service delivery, further strengthening MHADA’s accountability towards citizens.

Additionally, MHADA’s official WhatsApp account was launched during the event to improve transparency, efficiency, and responsiveness in citizen services. Citizens can connect through the mobile number 9326258911, and a WhatsApp icon has also been integrated into DigiMHADA and MHADA’s official website. Through this channel, citizens can receive quick responses to MHADA-related queries and download relevant applications and forms.

Explaining the vision behind ‘DigiMHADA’

Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal said the initiative was undertaken to ensure that all MHADA services become easily accessible through an integrated digital platform. The application aims to simplify service delivery, reduce paperwork, minimize visits to offices, and ensure that accurate and official information reaches citizens directly. To access the app’s services, users will need to register using their mobile number and OTP verification.

A live demonstration of the application was presented during the program, explaining the key features, functionality, and user interface, and how citizens can easily navigate and utilize the services.

The services available through the application include e-billing services, services provided by MHADA’s regional boards under the Right to Service Act, official notifications, MHADA visitor system, completed projects, ongoing projects, grievance redressal portal, e-auction, Auto DCR permission system, application for tenement allotment from the master list, contractor registration, MHADA resolutions, articles and blogs, and access to MHADA’s social media platforms. The application also features a ‘Near Me’ facility, which provides updated and verified information to help citizens locate essential services nearby.

In addition, services related to computerized housing lotteries conducted by MHADA’s regional boards will also be available on a single platform. Citizens can access lottery information, complete online registration, upload documents, and track application status through the application. This will enable citizens to receive timely and verified information regarding housing schemes, lotteries, and official announcements, allowing them to make informed decisions anytime and from anywhere.

‘DigiMHADA’ aligns with the broader objectives of e-governance, promoting transparency, accountability, and efficiency. Shri Jaiswal stated that the application will significantly reduce the need for physical visits to offices, thereby saving time and cost for citizens. Strong emphasis has been placed on data security, with secure login systems and verified digital processes ensuring the protection of citizens’ personal information. DigiMHADA acts as a digital bridge strengthening communication between citizens and MHADA, he added.

Under the Right to Information Act, applicants can now also submit RTI applications through the application, and officials will be able to monitor the disposal status of applications more efficiently.

The launch of ‘DigiMHADA’ marks an important milestone in MHADA’s digital transformation journey. It represents MHADA’s evolving administrative approach, placing citizens at the center of governance while delivering faster, simpler, and more reliable services through technology, Shri Jaiswal stated.
