MHADA’s first project to be implemented under the C & D model on private land

Mumbai, dated May 7, 2026:

A presentation of the draft master layout for the Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar (GTB Nagar) Cluster Redevelopment Project of Sindhi refugees at Sion Koliwada, being implemented by the Mumbai Housing and Area Development Board of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), was made today before MHADA Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal (IAS) at the MHADA Headquarters, Bandra East.

During the meeting held at the MHADA Headquarters, various issues related to expediting the GTB Nagar Cluster Redevelopment Project were discussed. In order to accelerate the eligibility determination process of approximately 350 hutment dwellers in the project area, MHADA Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal (IAS) directed the concerned authorities to complete the process within two weeks. Shri Jaiswal also instructed the concerned officials to publish the list of eligible hutment dwellers prior to commencement of the project, so that the eligibility process could be finalized and an effective implementation framework for the project could be ensured. Expressing satisfaction over the draft master layout presented on the occasion, Shri Jaiswal granted in-principle approval to the proposed layout and directed the concerned officials to forward it to the High-Powered Committee for further necessary action.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the rehabilitation of 1,200 beneficiaries under the redevelopment project, road-related challenges, housing stock to be received by MHADA, PAP tenements, and other related matters. Discussions were also held regarding issues likely to arise from the Civil Aviation Authority during implementation of the project. In addition, positive deliberations took place regarding the grant of appropriate entitled benefits to project-affected persons under the rehabilitation component.

Present on the occasion were Mumbai Board Chief Officer Shri Milind Borikar, Keystone Realtors (Rustomjee Group) Managing Director Shri Boman Irani, Joint Chief Officer Smt. Vandana Suryawanshi, Deputy Chief Engineer Shri Bhushan Desai, Shri Rahul Vhatkar, Executive Engineer Shri Rupesh Totewar, Shri Ankit Mose, and other officials.
