Hearing on 13 Applications at MHADA’s 16th Lokshahi Din
Mumbai, April 13, 2026:
The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) organized its 16th Lokshahi Din today at Grihanirman Bhavan, Bandra (East). The session was chaired by MHADA Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal (IAS). A total of 13 applications submitted by citizens were heard during the program.
Several cases were accorded priority and resolved during the Lokshahi Din. In one such case, the mother of applicant Ms. Ashlesha Ambekar, late Smt. Sunila Ambekar, had been declared a successful applicant in Code No. 1 of the Apollo Mill Scheme under the Mill Workers’ Lottery. However, following document verification and a communication received from Apollo Mill, she was declared ineligible. Upon appeal, the Deputy Commissioner, Labour Department, declared her eligible on February 2, 2026. Subsequently, Smt. Sunila Ambekar passed away. As her eligibility had been established, an application was submitted seeking transfer of possession of the tenement to her daughter as the legal heir. During the hearing, Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal directed the concerned officials to hand over possession of the tenement to Ms. Ashlesha Ambekar immediately based on the submitted legal heir certificate. The possession letter will be issued on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
In another case, Shri Ramkrishna Patade, a successful applicant in the Virar-Bolinj Housing Scheme under the Konkan Board’s 2024 lottery, faced a delay in payment due to late sanction of a bank loan. Consequently, interest amounting to ₹1,83,000/- was levied as per rules. Upon his request for waiver, Shri Jaiswal directed the concerned officials to waive the interest, treating it as a special case on humanitarian grounds. He further instructed that similar cases in the scheme be dealt with uniformly to ensure fairness.
Similarly, Smt. Surekha Pethe requested waiver of the penal charges imposed for regularization of Room No. 35 in Parijat Sadan, Girgaon, citing financial constraints. It was decided that while the principal amount of ₹14,750 must be paid, the entire interest amount of ₹65,000 would be waived.
Shri Anil Naik sought revision of the No Objection Certificate issued by MHADA for the redevelopment of Building No. 38 at Sahakar Nagar, Chembur, along with grant of 100% Occupation Certificate. Shri Jaiswal directed the concerned Executive Engineer to inspect the building and constitute a five-member committee to submit a report.
Shri Sanjay Babre requested inclusion of his name in the eligibility list for Room No. 15 in Dalmia Compound, Mahim. The Executive Engineer was directed to conduct a site inspection and verify police panchnama records before submitting a report.
Smt. Kalyani Salvi, a tenant/resident of Room No. 32 in Building No. 367-B, Lalubai Chawl, applied for inclusion of her name in the master list for allotment of a residential tenement on ownership basis. The concerned authority was directed to conduct a hearing and submit a report within 15 days.
Smt. Vijaya Mhatre requested change of the tenement allotted to her in the 2025 lottery for applicants in the master list. It was directed that she be included in the next lottery conducted by the Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board and be allotted a new tenement.
Smt. Kavita Khadpe, a tenant/resident of Shroff Building, Girgaon, applied for approval of the draft PAAA submitted by the appointed developer for redevelopment of the cess building. It was directed that further action be taken in accordance with the earlier order passed by the competent authority.
Smt. Sugandha Yeram requested eviction of encroachers from a transit tenement in Nandanvan Housing Society, Kannamwar Nagar, Vikhroli, which was in her late husband’s name. The concerned authority was directed to conduct a hearing at the appropriate level and take a humane and considered decision.
Shri Nitin Darekar raised issues related to property tax, building maintenance, and society registration concerning Building No. 25 at Kopri-Powai. It was directed that a four-member committee, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, examine the matter and submit a report.
