Hearing on 10 Applications during the 15th MHADA Lokshahi Day

Mumbai, February 09, 2026:

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) today organized the 15th Lokshahi Day at Housing Bhavan, Bandra (East). The program was held under the chairmanship of MHADA Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal (IAS), during which hearings were conducted for a total of 10 applications submitted by citizens.

Mrs. Rukmini Dinkar Pitale, the mother-in-law of Mrs. Deepti Dilip Pitale, was declared a successful and eligible applicant under the Freedom Fighter category in the MHADA Mumbai Board lottery for a residential tenement in the Tunga Powai Housing Project. Mrs. Rukmini Dinkar Pitale had executed a registered gift deed transferring the said tenement to her grandson.

However, before the gift deed could be submitted to MHADA, the son of Mrs. Deepti Pitale—who was also the grandson of Mrs. Rukmini Dinkar Pitale—unfortunately passed away. As a result, the validity of the gift deed came to an end. Subsequently, Mrs. Deepti Dilip Pitale submitted an application during today’s Lokshahi Day seeking the transfer of the said tenement to her name and that of her husband, Mr. Dilip Pitale.

While hearing the application, MHADA Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal considered the matter with sensitivity, humanity, and a positive approach. He informed Mrs. Deepti Pitale that since her mother-in-law, Mrs. Rukmini Dinkar Pitale, is alive, she should execute and submit a fresh gift deed within the next eight days. Mr. Jaiswal further instructed the concerned officials to immediately process the transfer of the tenement in favor of the person named in the newly submitted gift deed.

Mr. Prashant Toraskar’s father was the allottee of a residential tenement in MHADA’s housing project at Siddharth Nagar, Goregaon. Mr. Toraskar’s father passed away in 2020. In his will, he had clearly mentioned that the said tenement should be transferred to his son, Mr. Prashant Toraskar. The will has been duly probated. Accordingly, Mr. Prashant Toraskar submitted an application during today’s Lokshahi Day seeking the transfer of the said tenement.

After hearing the matter, MHADA Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal directed the concerned Estate Managers to take immediate action and complete the transfer of the said tenement in the name of Mr. Prashant Toraskar by tomorrow, February 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Mr. Pratapsingh Sawant submitted an application during today’s Lokshahi Day seeking a refund of additional charges collected from residents in the redevelopment project of the MHADA colony at Sardar Nagar. In this matter, Mr. Jaiswal directed that the Chief Officer of the Mumbai Board review the case and verify whether the additional charges were levied as per the rules.

During today’s Lokshahi Day, hearings were conducted on 8 applications related to the Mumbai Board, 1 application related to the Konkan Board, and 1 application related to the Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board.
