Nine Applications Heard During the Fourteenth MHADA Lokshahi Din

Mumbai, October 13, 2025: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) organized the Fourteenth Lokshahi Din (Democracy Day) today at the Housing Building, Bandra (East). The programme was held under the chairmanship of MHADA Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal (IAS), during which a total of nine citizen applications were heard.

While addressing the proceedings, Shri Jaiswal emphasized the importance of accountability, transparency, and a justice-oriented administration, highlighting the need for prompt decisions with a strong sense of social responsibility.

In one of the cases, Smt. Sunita Cheulkar sought the transfer of a transit tenement (gala) at Kannamwar Nagar, Vikhroli, originally allotted to her mother under MHADA’s rehabilitation scheme. After the demise of her sister, who was residing in the gala with her husband, the husband continued to stay there and subsequently remarried. Taking a firm stand, Shri Jaiswal directed the concerned officers of the Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board to issue a 24-hour eviction notice and to hand over possession of the gala to Smt. Sunita Cheulkar before Diwali, with police protection if required.

While hearing the application of Shri Swapnil Nikam, Shri Jaiswal instructed officers to obtain a written undertaking from the applicant and recover any pending rent dues before handing over possession of the concerned transit tenement.

In another case, Smt. Shaila Khandare submitted an application requesting inclusion of her mother’s name in Annexure-II under the slum rehabilitation project of Indiranagar Cooperative Housing Society at Andheri to confirm eligibility. Taking note of this, Mumbai Board Land Manager Shri Redekar promptly scheduled the hearing for October 14, 2025, and informed the applicant in advance. Appreciating this proactive step, Shri Jaiswal expressed satisfaction over the officer’s prompt response.

During today’s Lokshahi Din, a total of nine applications were heard — four pertaining to the Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board, three to the Konkan Board, and two to the Mumbai Board.
