MHADA Speeds Up Home Transfer Process; Property Transfer Approval Timeline Reduced to 15 Days
Mumbai: In a major citizen-centric initiative, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has streamlined its property transfer process by reducing the approval timeline for tenancy and ownership transfers from 23 days to just 15 days. The move is expected to provide faster services and greater convenience to thousands of MHADA homebuyers across Maharashtra.
The revised timeline will significantly reduce waiting periods for buyers purchasing MHADA properties from existing owners. After completing the registered sale deed, buyers are required to apply to MHADA for the transfer of tenancy and ownership records. Once approved, the purchaser's name is officially recorded in MHADA's property records.
Previously, applications submitted through MHADA's online system were processed within 23 days. With the latest administrative reform, eligible applications will now be processed within 15 days, enabling faster completion of property transactions and improving the overall homeownership experience.
The initiative reflects MHADA's continued focus on enhancing public services through digital governance, simplified procedures, and quicker decision-making. By reducing processing time, the authority aims to make housing-related services more efficient while improving transparency and convenience for citizens.
The faster transfer mechanism is expected to benefit homebuyers across Mumbai, its suburbs, and other cities where MHADA residential properties are located, reinforcing the authority's commitment to delivering responsive and citizen-friendly housing services.
