MHADA Helps 354 Families Own Affordable Homes in Sangli; New Flats in Miraj Available from ₹15 Lakh

Sangli: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) Pune Board has strengthened affordable housing in Sangli district by helping 354 families secure their own homes over the past decade through MHADA housing projects implemented alongside the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). The homes have been allotted through a transparent computerized lottery system and the first come, first served method.

As part of its latest initiative, 34 newly constructed flats at Bharatnagar in Miraj are now ready for allotment. The project has essential infrastructure, including electricity and drinking water, and is expected to benefit another 34 families seeking affordable housing. Existing MHADA residential colonies at Chintamani Nagar, Karnal Road, Abhay Nagar, and Parijat Colony in Sangli continue to provide quality housing to residents.

MHADA has also continued the allotment process for a limited number of vacant flats remaining after the housing lottery conducted earlier this year. Affordable homes in the scheme are available from ₹15 lakh, offering a significant opportunity for low and middle income families to purchase their own homes.

To promote inclusive housing, 13 percent of the available units have been reserved for persons with disabilities, sportspersons, and Central and State Government employees. The authority is also planning additional housing projects at Mira Housing Society, Parijat Colony, Sanjaynagar–Abhaynagar, and near Miraj Medical College to expand the supply of affordable homes in the district.

According to Rahul Sakore, Chief Officer, MHADA Pune Board, the authority is working closely with the local Municipal Corporation and Mahavitaran to ensure that every housing project is equipped with basic civic amenities before possession is handed over.

Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years of age, should have been residents of Maharashtra for the past 15 years with a valid domicile certificate, and must not own a residential property in their own name or in the name of their immediate family.

Through these initiatives, MHADA continues to expand access to affordable housing and support the dream of home ownership for economically weaker and middle income families across Sangli district.
