MHADA Holds 21st Lokshahi Din to Address Citizen Grievances

Two Applications Taken Up for Hearing at 21st Lokshahi Din

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) held its 21st Lokshahi Din on September 17, 2026, at its headquarters in Bandra East, Mumbai. The session was chaired by Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Sanjeev Jaiswal, IAS. Two citizen applications were heard during the proceedings, with directions issued for further action on both matters.

Rehabilitation Apartment Issue in Jogeshwari West

The first application was submitted by Rukhsana Begum concerning a rehabilitation apartment at Mateshwari Housing Society in Jogeshwari West. According to the application, the apartment was to be allotted to her husband under a Slum Rehabilitation Authority project in exchange for a hut. However, the apartment was allegedly occupied by unauthorized occupants.

During the hearing, Sanjeev Jaiswal directed the concerned officials to take appropriate action in line with the orders of the apex grievance redressal committee regarding the removal of unauthorized occupants from apartments 413 and 605.

He also directed that a further hearing be conducted at the MHADA CEO level on September 22, 2026. The hearing will include the concerned Sub-Divisional Officer, SRA officials, the competent authority, the MHADA Mumbai Board land manager and the applicant.

Prabhadevi Rehabilitation Possession Matter

The second application was filed by Chandrakant Chavan regarding a MHADA cess building in Prabhadevi. The building has already undergone redevelopment, but the applicant had not received possession of his rehabilitation apartment from the developer.

After reviewing the matter, Sanjeev Jaiswal directed that representatives from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the developer and the applicant be called for a special hearing on September 29, 2026.

The special hearing will examine the issue in detail and help determine the appropriate next steps for resolving the possession matter.

Direct Platform for Citizen Grievances

The 21st Lokshahi Din provided citizens with a direct opportunity to present their grievances before MHADA authorities. The proceedings focused on reviewing individual housing and rehabilitation-related concerns and directing the relevant departments and stakeholders to take further action on eligible matters.
