MHADA to Hold 21st Lokshahi Din on September 17 to Address Public Grievances
Public Grievance Day Scheduled at MHADA Headquarters in Mumbai
The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) will conduct its 21st Lokshahi Din, or Public Grievance Day, on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at its headquarters in Bandra East, Mumbai. The session will begin at 12 noon and will be held in the conference hall on the fourth floor.
The program will take place under the chairmanship of MHADA Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Sanjeev Jaiswal, IAS. The initiative gives citizens an opportunity to bring their concerns directly before senior MHADA officials and seek appropriate action.
Monthly Initiative Focuses on Faster Grievance Resolution
MHADA has been conducting Lokshahi Din at its Bandra East headquarters since January 2024. The public grievance program is generally held on the second Monday of every month.
However, this month's session has been rescheduled to September 17 because September 14 was a government holiday for Ganesh Chaturthi.
Through Lokshahi Din, MHADA aims to provide citizens with a direct and transparent platform to raise personal grievances related to its services and seek timely solutions.
20 Lokshahi Din Sessions Completed
MHADA has already conducted 20th Lokshahi Din sessions under the leadership of Sanjeev Jaiswal. During these meetings, complaints, applications and representations submitted by citizens are reviewed in the presence of the officials responsible for the concerned matters.
The direct interaction has helped bring attention to several cases that had remained unresolved for a long period. MHADA said the process has made grievance handling more accessible, transparent and efficient for citizens.
The monthly program has also helped strengthen communication between residents and the housing authority while supporting a more accountable and citizen-focused administrative system.
Sanjeev Jaiswal Reviews Previous Grievances
Before each Lokshahi Din session, Sanjeev Jaiswal reviews the action taken on complaints discussed during earlier meetings. This follow-up allows MHADA officials to monitor the progress of cases and ensure that issues raised by citizens receive appropriate attention.
The review process is intended to make grievance redressal more effective by keeping track of cases even after the initial complaint has been heard.
As a result, Lokshahi Din has become an important platform connecting citizens directly with the MHADA administration.
Citizens Must Follow Application Rules
Citizens who want to participate in the September 17 Lokshahi Din must submit their grievance applications in the prescribed format. Applications are required to be submitted in two copies at least 15 days before the scheduled session.
The prescribed application form is available through the Lokshahi Din section under Citizen Services on the official MHADA website.
The grievance must be personal in nature. Matters that are already pending before courts, revenue authorities or appeal proceedings will not be considered during Lokshahi Din. Service-related complaints, establishment matters and applications that do not follow the required format or do not include necessary documents will also not be accepted.
Unaccepted Applications Will Be Sent to Concerned Departments
MHADA has also made arrangements to ensure that applications that do not qualify for discussion during Lokshahi Din are not left unattended.
Such applications will be forwarded to the appropriate department within eight days for necessary action. A copy of the communication will also be provided to the applicant.
The upcoming Lokshahi Din is expected to provide another opportunity for eligible citizens to directly communicate their concerns and seek timely action from the MHADA administration.
