MHADA to Hold 20th Lokshahi Din on August 10 to Address Citizens’ Grievances
Mumbai, August 8, 2026: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) will conduct its 20th Lokshahi Din (Democracy Day) on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 12 noon at its headquarters in Bandra East, Mumbai. The session will be chaired by MHADA Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Sanjeev Jaiswal, IAS, and will focus on directly reviewing citizens’ complaints and providing timely decisions on eligible grievances.
MHADA has been organizing Lokshahi Din on the second Monday of every month since January 2024 to create a direct platform for citizens to raise housing and administrative concerns with senior officials. So far, 19 such sessions have been successfully conducted under Jaiswal’s leadership, helping address long-pending matters through direct interaction between applicants and concerned departments.
During the Lokshahi Din sessions, citizens’ applications are examined in the presence of relevant officials, allowing issues to be discussed openly and decisions to be taken more efficiently. MHADA said the initiative has helped improve transparency, accountability, and responsiveness while strengthening public confidence in the authority. Before each session, Jaiswal also reviews the progress made by departments on cases raised during previous Lokshahi Din meetings.
Citizens seeking to participate must submit their grievance in the prescribed format at least 15 days before the scheduled session, in two copies. The application format is available on the official MHADA website under the Lokshahi Din section. Applications must relate to individual grievances and include all necessary supporting documents.
Cases pending before courts, revenue or appeal matters, service and establishment-related issues, incomplete applications, matters lacking required documents, cases that have already received or are due to receive a final response, repeated submissions on the same issue, and grievances that are not personal in nature will not be considered during the session. Applications that are not eligible for Lokshahi Din will instead be forwarded to the concerned department within eight days for appropriate action, with a copy of the communication provided to the applicant.
On 19th Lokshahi Din we reviewed redevelopment grievances, through it MHADA continues to promote direct citizen engagement and strengthen a transparent, accountable, and responsive grievance redressal system.
