MHADA Reviews 3 Housing-Related Applications
The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) held its 22nd Lokshahi Din on October 12, 2026, at its headquarters in Bandra East, Mumbai. Chaired by Vice President and Chief Executive Officer IAS Sanjeev Jaiswal, the session reviewed 3 housing-related applications and directed officials to address disputed charges and speed up flat possession for eligible beneficiaries.
MHADA Directs Developer to Waive GST on Rehabilitation Flat
One application was submitted by Ravindra Sawant, who was asked to pay nearly Rs 8 lakh in GST, housing society formation fees, and other charges to receive his rehabilitation flat after the redevelopment of Bhanu Kunj, a cessed building on T.H. Kataria Marg in Mahim. After reviewing the matter, MHADA directed the concerned officials to inform the developer that GST should not be charged on the rehabilitation flat. Officials were also instructed to take the necessary steps to help Sawant receive possession promptly.
Konkan Lottery Winner to Receive Flat Without Additional Infrastructure Fee
Another applicant, Dnyaneshwar Garkal, had won a flat in the Konkan Board’s 2021 lottery under the 20% Inclusive Housing Scheme. Although he had paid the full purchase price, the developer demanded an additional amount as an infrastructure development fee after receiving an Occupation Certificate for certain floors in 2026. Following the hearing, MHADA directed officials to instruct the developer not to collect the additional fee and arranged for the applicant to receive possession the following Wednesday.
Third Application on Additional Housing Charges
The third application was submitted by Kalpesh Salve, who raised concerns about additional charges for a flat under the 20% Inclusive Housing Scheme. MHADA directed the concerned officials to call the developer for a hearing and review the matter.
MHADA Continues Efforts to Resolve Housing Grievances
The session reflects MHADA’s continued efforts to address residents’ housing concerns, review disputed charges, and improve the timely delivery of homes to eligible beneficiaries through direct discussions with applicants and responsible officials.
