The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority’s Konkan Board is preparing to launch a housing lottery for around 1,000 affordable homes, offering a major opportunity for families looking for budget-friendly housing near Mumbai. The lottery advertisement is expected to be released before Dussehra, with the computerized draw planned before Diwali.

The homes will be located across Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivli and Vasai-Virar municipal areas. The properties are expected to be offered mainly to very low-income and low-income groups, with prices ranging from around Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.

With housing costs in Mumbai remaining high, the Konkan Board lottery is expected to attract strong interest from homebuyers seeking more affordable options in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. However, the number of homes available through the Konkan Board has been affected by the recent government decision to distribute the 20 percent housing component received from private developers through the respective municipal bodies.

Preparations for the upcoming lottery are currently underway, and the release of the advertisement before Dussehra is expected to provide applicants with details about eligibility, locations, prices and the application process. The planned draw before Diwali could bring a festive opportunity for hundreds of families hoping to own an affordable MHADA home.
