MHADA Plans New Mumbai Housing Lottery With Around 2,500 Affordable Homes
Mumbai: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) is preparing to introduce another housing lottery in Mumbai within the next five months, with around 2,500 affordable homes expected to be offered to eligible applicants. The upcoming initiative is aimed at expanding access to reasonably priced housing in Mumbai’s highly competitive real estate market.
The proposed lottery follows strong demand for MHADA’s 2026 Mumbai Housing Lottery, which offered 2,640 homes through a fully computerized draw. The scheme attracted nearly 78,976 applications, highlighting the continued demand for affordable housing among Mumbai residents.
MHADA is now working toward making approximately 2,500 additional homes available through its next lottery. The units are expected to be located across different parts of Mumbai and designed to serve applicants from various income groups, providing more opportunities for families seeking affordable homeownership.
The latest initiative comes soon after the result declaration of the 2026 lottery, in which MHADA allotted 2,640 homes through its transparent computerized system. According to the reported figures, 55,244 applicants completed the Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) process, demonstrating the strong level of participation in the scheme.
With another lottery being planned, MHADA is continuing its focus on increasing the supply of affordable homes and creating more accessible pathways to homeownership in Mumbai. The upcoming scheme is expected to generate significant interest among prospective homebuyers once registration details and eligibility criteria are officially announced.
